Treatment Programs

Clinical-intensive care grounded in research, delivered with warmth

Medical Detox

Withdrawal is a neurological event, and we treat it that way. During our 3–7 day detox, board-certified physicians use continuous biomarker tracking and FDA-approved medications—including buprenorphine, naltrexone, and benzodiazepine taper protocols—to manage symptoms from alcohol, opioids, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and other substances safely.

Nursing staff monitor vitals every two hours through the acute phase, and our nutritional psychiatry team begins gut-repair protocols on day one to accelerate physical stabilization. By the time detox ends, your residential or outpatient treatment plan is already written and waiting.

Residential Treatment

Our 30–90 day residential track is deliberately clinical-intensive: three structured therapy sessions every day, starting at 7:30 AM. Morning group work builds peer accountability, midday individual counseling targets personal trauma and co-occurring conditions, and afternoon specialty sessions rotate between equine-assisted therapy, adventure therapy, and dialectical behavior skills practice.

Outside of sessions, patients tend the community garden, use the fitness center and yoga studio, and eat chef-prepared meals designed by our nutritional psychiatry team. Weekend family intensives and motivational enhancement workshops round out a schedule engineered to catalyze whole-person transformation during the most critical window of early recovery.

Outpatient Program

Our Intensive Outpatient Program runs 8–12 weeks with three sessions per week, including CBT skills labs, group therapy, and individual counseling. A flexible standard outpatient track is also available for patients who need ongoing support with fewer weekly commitments. Evening and weekend scheduling options accommodate Palo Alto professionals and students.

Every outpatient patient receives a personalized relapse-prevention blueprint, continued access to our nutritional psychiatry team, and coordination with any external providers involved in their care. This level is designed both as a step-down from residential and as a standalone option for individuals whose clinical picture supports community-based treatment from the start.

Dual Diagnosis

Studies estimate that over 50 percent of people with a substance use disorder also meet criteria for at least one additional psychiatric condition. At TSL Rehab, we screen every patient for depression, generalized anxiety, PTSD, bipolar spectrum disorders, and ADHD within the first 48 hours. When a co-occurring condition is identified, it becomes part of a single integrated treatment plan—not a separate referral.

Our addiction psychiatrist and trauma therapists work from the same clinical record, adjusting medications and therapy techniques in tandem. This unified approach is supported by a growing body of research showing that simultaneous treatment of both conditions reduces relapse rates and shortens time to sustained recovery.
