Admissions
A straightforward process designed to reduce your stress, not add to it
Getting Started
We know that picking up the phone can feel like the hardest part. You might be unsure whether your situation is "bad enough," worried about cost, or nervous about what treatment actually looks like day to day. Those feelings are completely normal, and our admissions coordinators hear them every single call. Their job is not to pressure you—it is to answer your questions honestly and help you figure out whether TSL Rehab is the right fit.
Our team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can call for yourself, for a spouse, for an adult child, or even just to ask general questions with no obligation. We will walk you through insurance verification, clinical assessment, and arrival logistics at whatever pace feels right to you.
The Admissions Process
Reach Out
Call (650) 226-9182 or email [email protected] any time, day or night. There is no script; you will talk to a real person who listens.
Clinical Assessment
A licensed clinician conducts a confidential phone or in-person evaluation covering substance history, mental health, medical needs, and personal goals. This helps us recommend the right level of care for your specific situation.
Insurance & Finances
We handle the insurance verification for you and clearly explain what is covered, what your out-of-pocket cost looks like, and any alternative payment options available.
Welcome & Arrival
We coordinate travel details, send a packing checklist, and have your room and clinical team ready when you walk through the door. You will meet your primary therapist within the first few hours.

What to Bring
- Government-issued photo ID
- Insurance card and any recent lab work or medical records you have on hand
- A written list of current medications and dosages
- Comfortable, casual clothing for about 7–10 days (layers are smart—Palo Alto mornings can be cool)
- Basic toiletries and personal care items
- A notebook or journal if you like to write
- Phone numbers for family members or emergency contacts
Please leave at home: expensive jewelry, large amounts of cash, weapons, and any substances. We do inspect belongings at check-in—not to be intrusive, but to keep every patient safe.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will I be in treatment?
It really depends on you. Detox usually runs 3–7 days, residential is typically 30–90 days, and our outpatient programs last 8–12 weeks. But those are guidelines, not rigid boxes. Your clinical team will sit down with you, look at your assessment, and recommend a timeline that actually fits your situation. If things change along the way, the plan adjusts with you.
Will my insurance cover this?
There is a good chance it will. We work with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicaid, Medicare, Oscar Health, Humana, and Ambetter. The easiest way to find out is to call us at (650) 226-9182—we will verify your coverage for free and explain exactly what to expect financially. No surprises, we promise.
Can my family visit me?
Absolutely. Visitation happens on scheduled weekends, and we strongly encourage it. Addiction does not just affect one person, so we invite family members to participate in therapy sessions too. It can feel awkward at first, but most families tell us those sessions are where the real healing starts.
Do I get to use my phone?
Yes, during designated hours. We know being out of touch feels stressful, so we build in time for you to call family and stay connected. At the same time, the limited-use policy helps you focus during therapy blocks. Most patients tell us they actually appreciate the break from constant notifications.
Is detox going to be safe?
Completely. Our detox is supervised by physicians and nurses around the clock—literally 24/7. We use FDA-approved medications to manage withdrawal so you are as comfortable as possible. If you are nervous about this part, you are not alone. Just about everyone is. And just about everyone says afterward that it was much more manageable than they expected.
What happens when treatment ends?
You do not just walk out the door and figure it out alone. Before discharge, your team builds a detailed aftercare plan that might include outpatient sessions, alumni group meetings, community referrals, and check-ins with your therapist. Our alumni network stays in touch for as long as you want—because recovery is a long game, and you deserve backup.
You Do Not Have to Figure This Out Alone
Our admissions coordinators are here whenever you are ready. Every call is free, confidential, and completely no-pressure.
